The annual Skin Cancer Susceptibility Index has found that New Zealand has the highest rate of skin cancer worldwide. It had an index score of 10 with 2,473 instances of melanoma diseases per year. The index scores in the study ranged from 10 to 1 and were calculated on the basis of the number of new cases of melanoma disease in each country related to its overall population. Australia, Switzerland, Sweden and Norway followed New Zealand as the most susceptible nations. Sweden has the highest mortality rate from skin cancer (17 percent), followed by Switzerland (15 percent), Italy (14 percent) and Denmark (14 percent).
